MORE INFORMATION:
We are starting research aimed at the assessment of linguistic and cognitive development of bilingual Vietnamese children living in Poland. The project: “Early language development of Vietnamese children living in Poland” in Poland, is headed by Dr. Aneta Miękisz, who has been investigating issues of multilingual linguistic development for many years. The project is also headed by the co-Principal Investigator from Vietnam, Dr. Hien Pham, a senior researcher of the Institute of Linguistics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
We cordially invite you to take part in our studies by filling in the questionnaire (s) of the “Speech and Communication Development Inventory” and information questionnaires. The inventory is the Vietnamese and Polish version of the commonly used in the world “McArthur-Bates Communication Development Inventory”. These inventories are intended for children aged 18 to 36 months and are filled by parents or permanent guardians. The questionnaires allow the collection of information about the linguistic development of children, and in particular about what words they use at this stage of development. Please fill in the Vietnamese version, and if you speak Polish, please also fill in the Polish version.
You can read more about the MC-CDI on the website: https://mb-cdi.stanford.edu/ (website in English)
If you decide to participate in the study, you will be asked to provide basic information about the child’s linguistic environment, health, development, and education, etc. We will also ask some questions about your education, the languages you speak, and your profession. All that information will be highly secured. The test results will be used anonymously for research purposes only. If you agree, we will also want to contact you in the future to invite your child to participate in further research.
Please complete all forms within two weeks of starting the questionnaire. You can return to the questionnaires provided that you use the same device as you used the first time (telephone, computer, iPad).
We comply with current legal regulations and undertake precautions so that the personal data you provide is secure. Access to your data will be secured and stored on a separate disk, with limited access to appropriately trained persons. You will be able to withdraw from participation in the study at any time. We will be very grateful for your consent to participate in this research! You can contact us at vietbil@psych.uw.edu.pl if you need additional information.
